When I got back from speaking at the homeschool conference in Seattle, my sister asked me if the car broke down. “No,” I said. “But while backing out the driveway before leaving to Seattle, Alan crashed into a tree.”
“Oh, no! Really? What happened?”
“He said he was distracted by me.”
“How romantic.”
“Well, he said he was trying not to run me over, and he overcompensated.”
“Oh,” replied my sister. “Is the damage bad?”
“Not really. It’s just smooshed in the corner. We’re not going to get it fixed because it doesn’t affect how the car runs. I just thought it was funny and told him to watch out for that tree.”
“That’s a great way to look at it,” said my sister.
