You are Honored

you-are-honored

Do you know that you are honored?

God honors us! He gives us dignity, and nobody can take it away. In the beautiful passage of Isaiah 43:4, God says “You are precious in My sight, since you are honored and I love you…”

To honor means to regard with great respect.

Even though God will get all the glory and the honor for whatever He has done through us, God will commend us for what we did right. God “will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5b God is pleased with us when we obey Him, and He will say to each of us who have been faithful: “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)

In the same way, we are to honor one another. Romans 12: 10 says we need to show honor to everyone: “Outdo one another in showing honor.”

Scripture points out specific people that we should be especially sure to honor. For example, we should show honor to our mother and father (Exodus 20:12)

honored

We are supposed to show honor to our pastors and leaders. (1 Timothy 5:17)

1 Peter 3:7 commands husbands to show honor to their wives as a fellow heir of grace.

Of course, we should also show honor to our husbands (Ephesians 5:33 says that the wife is to respect her husband.)

Honor is important in the way that we treat one another. We believe the best in each other.

Even if someone treats you in a dishonoring way, no one can take away your dignity, because God Himself gives you honor. So you are honored!

You can’t force others to treat you in a certain way, but you can treat others with honor.

You are Rejoiced Over

you-are-rejoiced-over

Did you know that God rejoices over you? Yes, you are rejoiced over by God Himself! Listen to this:

The LORD your God is in your midst,
A mighty one who will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness;
He will quiet you by his love;
He will exult over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3:17 ESV

Singing represents joy. God expresses joy when people do what is right. God is full of emotion, and He is rooting for us. He is not against us! (Romans 8:31)

We bring God joy!

The sinless angels in heaven are reflecting the joy that God has. What makes God happy makes the angels happy. What makes God sad makes the angels sad. The angels and God are on the same side.

Here is more insight from Scripture to see where the angels in heaven reflect the joy of God:

  • Through creation: “…while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” Job 38:7 NIV
  • When we repent of sin: “There is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10 ESV
  • When we display our faith in God: We are told after the Hebrews Hall of Faith that “we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) and that our acts of obedience and faith do not go unnoticed by God!
  • When we endure unjust treatment: “For God is pleased when, conscious of His will, you patiently endure unjust treatment.” 1 Peter 2:19 NLT

rejoice-over-you

When we hold on to our faith when our circumstances are dark, when we continue to trust God when everything seems against us… When we minister to others even when we ourselves are hurting… This brings joy to God.

When we delight in God, this brings delight to God! This is why singing praises in the midst of difficult circumstances brings so much glory to God. The cloud of unseen witnesses around us roots for us and rejoices when they see us bringing glory to God.

Here is a poem I wrote today as I was pondering these things:

God rejoices
When He sees me
He sings!

Joy and freedom
Free from sin
Dancing!

Joy knows no bounds
Limitless smile
Approval!

rejoiced-over

Just like we as parents rejoice over our children when they do what is right, in the same way, God rejoices over us. Even if a child is mostly disobedient, when we see that child doing what is right, we as parents get so happy. We delight in any good thing our children do. It is the same way with God.

The Lord is not a hard task master. He is a God who delights in us. Let that sink in! You are rejoiced over by God!

You are Loved

you-are-loved

You are loved by God! God thought you up before the beginning of time, with all your strengths and frailties. He knew you and called you to be His before the beginning of time (Psalm 139). God the Father loved you so much He sent His Son (John 3:16), and Jesus gave His life for you on the cross and paid the price of all the sin you would ever commit so that He could have a relationship with you. You are pretty special to God, you are unique, and He made you exactly the way He intended you to be. You are accepted and loved!

Don’t go seeking humans to love you with the love that only Jesus can offer. If you ask the Lord to fill you with His love, He will answer you. In Ephesians 3:17-18, Paul prays that we may all experience the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ. The word in the original Greek for “know” is an experiential knowledge, since there is a different word for head knowledge.

If you seek acceptance from others, if your husband seems to have contempt for you rather than love, if your closest friends betray you, if your family members disown you–none of these matters if you can access the love of Jesus and understand how loved and valued you are to His kingdom. Flawed people are born selfish, and the best of Christians fights selfishness daily. There is no way you will ever be loved by a human the way that Jesus can love you.

love-is-a-mess

Romans 5:5 says that God’s love has been poured out into out hearts, and how can that mean a cognitive understanding? No, it’s something that touches the heart and that changes who we are. ALL of the Christian life is miraculous, from true salvation that brings transformation, to the love that we can experience, to the peace that passes understanding in difficult situations.

love-art

If you have been abused, raped, neglected, or hurt in any way by others, understand that Christ was inside of you and experienced all your pain with you. He knows you like no one else can!

No matter what you’ve done, He forgives you when you come to Him, and He wipes you clean and sees you in a beautiful light. God created you just the way He wanted you and accepts you just the way you are, with all your flaws. You are loved.

People who have never been through hardship and had a great family life growing up might think that they understand the love of God. But sometimes it’s the broken who reach upward for strength that are filled supernaturally by His Spirit.

loved-by-God

“Is it not likely that many healthy, well-adjusted, productive adults from self-assured families mistake their own natural sense of well-being for the love of God, and are therefore worse off spiritually than the broken person who, beyond all expectation, has tasted the love of God by the power of the Holy Spirit?” – John Piper

If you need to experience the love of God, ask that God would remove any obstacle that is standing in the way of you truly having that love wash over you. Here is one of my favorite songs about the love of God: O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus.

I hope you know that you are loved!

31 Days to Regaining Your Identity

regaining-your-identity

During the month of October I will be participating in the 31 Days challenge, and the topic this year is a life-changing one: 31 Days to Regaining Your Identity. Each day I will be covering a different aspect of who we are in Christ so that we can regain what the enemy has taken away from us and live a joyful life full of purpose. Christian women should be fully grounded in our personhood as daughters of the King so that we don’t live our lives in defeat.

Don’t listen to negative talk that people say against you, even if it’s your own family members. If you have trusted Christ and made Him Lord of your life, you have been forgiven. You are loved, and you are beautiful! I am going to prove all these things to you through Scripture and personal experience by filming a short teaching video with each day’s topic, so that you can come to know who you truly are.

Imagine someone who has a huge bank account, but that person does not know that he or she is a millionaire. So they live their lives in misery, because they just don’t know what they already own. Do you realize that you have an inheritance in Christ, and you don’t have to be dead to receive it? It’s true! You get so much treasure in Christ in the here and now, and the reason we live in defeat is because of lack of understanding.

Here is the list of topics I will be addressing this month:

1. You are Accepted
2. You are Loved
3. You are Forgiven
4. You are Beautiful
5. You are Rejoiced Over
6. You are Honored
7. You are Wanted
8. You are Valuable
9. You are Full of Hope
10. You are Protected
11. You are a Citizen of Heaven
12. You are Confident
13. You are Joyful
14. You are Unique and Significant
15. You are a New Creation
16. You are an Overcomer
17. You are Gifted
18. You are Powerful Over the Enemy
19. You are Healed and Restored
20. You are Free
21. You are God’s Temple
22. You are a Light to Others
23. You are Fearless and Brave
24. You are United with Christ
25. You are a Minister of Reconciliation
26. You are Equipped and Strong
27. You are Blessed
28. You are Full of Grace
29. You are Seated with Christ
30. You are God’s Masterpiece
31. You are Complete in Christ
