As soon as I came back from my romantic weekend getaway, I wanted to make a note to myself of why exercising was important. After all, my dislike for exercise usually outweighs the technical benefits. As long as I’m still skinny, who cares about exercise? I knew this would be my attitude. So as a reminder to myself, I wrote a list of all the benefits of exercise for me:
- My heart doesn’t feel squished any more when I run up the stairs.
- I can climb hills with my husband without feeling winded.
- I will feel healthier in my old age instead of being in constant pain.
- I will have more energy as a result of exercising.
- Stress relief.
- Toned, better-looking body.
- More strength.
- Better sleep because my heart rate will be slower during sleep.
- More fit to do activities with my children, such as hiking and camping. More endurance to do such things.
- I won’t get fat.
- I won’t get injured as easily if my muscles are stronger.
- My back won’t go out as often, and when it does, it will heal faster.
- I will get fewer illnesses.
- I will be able to do daily tasks with greater ease.

Keep talking. I’m listening…
Hahaha!
I really needed this one today. Thanks! 🙂
You’re welcome. I needed it, too.
My New Years resolution is to lose weight and exercise…we just joined the Y this week.
That always helps!
Number 11 is really speaking to me right now! I never really thought of exercise as injury prevention. Good thought! Thanks so much!!
Yes, we definitely cut down on the injuries we get when we are in shape!
