Here is a short video demonstrating how to make a Bible costume in five minutes with no sewing. (This video has over 292K views!) The costume is versatile and can be used in many different time periods.
You will need an old white bed sheet, a pair of cloth shears, and a bottle of fabric glue. You will also want a rope to use as a belt.
Fold the sheet in half. The top is where the fold is. You can have a person lie down on top of it to make sure the tunic is long enough. If not, you might want to use a queen-sized sheet or a king-sized sheet. Now cut the sheet into a T-shape. I give you a trick in the video that will help you make sure the sleeves are even.
Use fabric glue to paste the lower part of the sleeves together, and the sides of the tunic. Then cut a neck hole in the top. Throw the finished Bible costume over a chair to dry overnight. Enjoy wearing your Bible costume for limitless plays and skits to bring Scripture to life for audiences everywhere!

Great fast costuming tips! I also like to use the double sided iron on hem tape to make no-sew items.
I’ve never heard of hem tape. The fabric glue works so well that even when I put the tunic in the washing machine, it doesn’t come apart. (I don’t put it in the dryer, though.)
That is very creative how you made one costume transform into various looks by adding a few accessories. That can also apply to any type of costume people want to create, even with Halloween coming up at the end of the month.
It’s also great for those Nativity scenes for Christmas time, when schools are doing some events.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
I get a lot of views during the months of Christmas and Easter, because a lot of churches put on pageants. This is an inexpensive, quick way to come up with a basic costume.
Thank’s you so much for sharing your creativity! I am so inspired!
( I love the 2nd to the last photo! What a confident character!)
My son is such a ham. It was his idea to look up as the angel and pretend he was singing!
What size sheet to use for the no sew 5 minute costumes?
It depends how big your actor is. If it’s a child, a regular twin sheet should be fine. If it’s a tall man, maybe a Queen or King sized sheet might be better. Have the person lie down on the floor on top of the folded sheet to see if the sheet will be big enough before you cut it.
Hi! I love this! Just wanted to know what size you would use for adults (women). Also wanted to know do you know how to do the head garments for the women?
Hold up a folded sheet to the woman, with the fold at her neck. If it’s long enough, then use the sheet. If it’s not long enough, use a larger sheet.
Head garments for women are pretty easy. A square of white sheet can be tied like a scarf.
What size bed sheet?
It depends on the height of the person. (See my previous comment.)
What suggestions do you have for angel wings? I have 6 or 7 angels…
You could stretch gauze or thin white cloth to wire hangers shaped like angel wings. You could staple the gauze to the wire. Then tie two strings onto the wings, one for each arm, tying the strings.
How many yards of fabric will be appropriate for 7year old since I don’t have old sheets and there is no goodwill where I live.
Thanks.
You would just have to estimate based on the size of the 7-year-old. It’s better to overestimate and have fabric left over than to underestimate and not have enough.
Thank you
What a fast and awesome costume! I love the versatility of it, too!
Simple and versatile. That’s a good combination!
5 minutes and no sewing! Love this. Thanks for sharing this, Susan.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Susan!

I’ve never made angel wings. You can search for a YouTube video that might have a tutorial.
Thank you great for the last minute costume needs!!!
