“Journey to the Cross” is an outdoor Easter play that our family has attended for the last few years. You walk down a path representing the life of Jesus, especially the last week of His life. The Last Supper, the betrayal by Judas, the Garden of Gethsemane, the crucifixion, and the resurrection are all depicted as if it were really happening. The costumes and scenery are also well-done. We recorded it so that others could feel the experience:

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011Reading Through the Bible
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011My 10-year-old son just finished reading through the Bible on his own. It took him eight months to complete the entire Bible. He colored in a square for each chapter that he read. We sometimes would talk about what he was reading. He had a deep desire to read God’s Word on his own.
Now my 9-year-old son has started reading the Bible. He’s only been reading for about two months. A week ago when I was pouring myself some coffee, my son shouted, “I love Leviticus! It is my favorite book! Besides Revelation, I mean.”
“Why do you like it so much?” I asked.
“All the chapters about leprosy are so interesting!”
Go figure. My son thinks leprosy is interesting. I walked off with my coffee, totally perplexed.
Free Online Bible Resources
Wednesday, January 12th, 2011One of the fun Bible resources online to help you and your children love the Bible is the Bible on audio. Max McLean has a deep, luxurious voice as he reads the Bible and brings it to life. Here is the link for free Bible on audio:

Another fun resource is to listen to the Bible in Hebrew or Greek. Back when we were studying Israel, it was fun to hear what Hebrew sounded like. You can choose a familiar Psalm, for example. Now that we are studying Ancient Greece, we can listen to the New Testament in Greek, to see what it sounds like. Here is the link for the Academy of Ancient Languages:

If you have young children, you can have your children listen to Bible stories and do other activities that go with the different Bible stories. Here is the link for the Garden of Praise:

The last fun link for Bible class would be “Art and the Bible,” which shows lots of famous artwork that goes with Bible stories. If you click on “Old Testament,” and then “Genesis,” you will see the first chapter of Genesis along with five famous works of art, for example. Here is the link:
These are the only four links I have kept in my “Homeschooling: Bible” bookmarks on my computer. I consider them the best in what they have to offer, especially since they are free!
